One day at a school in Queens, the most ethnically diverse borough of New York City, a teacher said to a class of 5-year-olds,

“I’ll give $10 to the child who can tell me who was the most famous man who ever lived.”

An Irish boy put his hand up and said, “It is St. Patrick.”

The teacher replied, “I’m sorry, that’s not right.”

Then a Scottish boy put his hand up and said, “It is St. Andrew.”

The teacher replied, “I’m sorry, that’s not right either.”

Then a Jewish boy put his hand up and said “David”,

The teacher replied, “I’m sorry, that’s not right either.”

The Japanese body put up his hand and said, “Emperor Hirohito”

The teacher replied, “I’m sorry, that’s not right either.”

The South African boy put up his hand and said, “Nelson Mandela”

The teacher replied, “I’m sorry, that’s not right either.”

None of them knew the correct answer…

Finally, a Gujarati (from India) boy raised his hand and said, “It is Jesus Christ.”

The teacher said, “That’s absolutely right, Jignesh, come up here and I’ll give you the $10 that I promised.”

As the teacher was giving Jignesh his money, she said, “You know Jignesh, since you’re a Hindu Gujarati from India, I thought you’d say Mahatma Gandhi; I was very surprised you said Jesus Christ.”

Jignesh replied, “Yes. In my heart I knew it was Mahatma Gandhi, but Bijness is Bijness.”

All of us have our personal biases based on where we were born, raised, worked, lived… but a true business person focuses and acts intentionally at making more money. And, has a business mindset – values, beliefs and rules they live by, when it comes to making money.
